TIESTO & AOKI JOIN FORCES...

It seems of late Tiesto has more studio partners than he has days off. After teaming up with High Contrast, Diplo, Kaskade, deadmau5 and Mark Knight (to name a few), the Dutchman has added Dim Mak overlord Steve Aoki to his dominion.

After crossing paths and swilling vodka on various festival stages around the world, it seems the two DJs were keen to co-author a banger. The Tiesto/Aoki collaboration 'Tornado' is going directly to Beatport on 15 November.

"What I like about the track is that you hear both Steve Aoki and Tiësto style in it. It’s the loudest track I’ve ever worked on!!" -Tiësto

"This is a tornado of a track. It’s got a twisted winding heavy drop and an epic open valley to let the track breathe to bring you right back into our TORNADO!!" -Steve Aoki

Check out the preview the track HERE - Tiësto & Steve Aoki - Tornado

BAD WEATHER CHASES ID FESTIVAL AROUND AMERICA...

Identity Festival weather

Hitting 20 US cities across the month of August, the Identity Festival is riding high on North America’s current fervour for all things electronic. The touring carnival features a few key headliners – Kaskade, Steve Aoki, Pretty Lights, Rusko and Avicii – alongside a rotating cast of fellow dance music types.

Like an EDM version of the Vans Warped tour, the whole entourage travels together from city to city in a fleet of buses, leaving a kandi-coloured trail in its wake.

The ID Fest road-trip began in Indianapolis a couple of weeks ago, and it’s already up to show ten. One factor the festival hasn’t been able to out-run, though, is "epic weather fail", in the words of DJ Shadow on his Facebook. At Sunday night’s stop in New York, a heavy rainstorm forced Aoki to wind up his set on the Dim Mak stage after just one track. Cue wet and unhappy Aoki-acolytes.

Following that upset, the Miami date has been postponed, with fears that the impending Hurricane Irene could wreak havoc on the festival site. Given the current crop of disasters at festivals around the world, we’re guessing the Identity organisers are taking no chances.

For the cities that have been able to enjoy the full show, it’s been a smorgasbord of wubbs and anthemic electro-house, with the occasional curveball like Modeselektor or Holy Ghost. Top billing has gone to Kaskade, who’s now sporting a raised DJ set-up flanked by pulsing video screens.

The picture above was taken during Steve Aoki's set in Jones Beach, New York.
#EPIC lightning shot!

STEVE AOKI INTERVIEW...

Steve Aoki, Identity Festival 2011
With the Identity Festival, starting Thursday, Steve Aoki has his studio, and nearly all the Dim Mak Records team, packed and ready for a road trip.

Kaskade, Avicii, NerVo, Skrillex, Afrojack, Steve Lawler and Aoki are among the performers who will hit more than 20 cities on the inaugural festival. Aoki will be the featured performer on the Dim Mak Stage, and he's planning to debut a new stage show on the tour.

"I don't want to give away anything that we've been developing the past eight months, but it's pretty epic," Aoki told MTV News recently. "It's the only way I could do it, the only way I could really bring it out is with a bus. So this tour allows me to do that.

"I always do these crazy festivals, hopping tours in Australia or even Europe. But in America, this is the first of its kind, the first dance touring festival with all these different DJs," Aoki added. "And I'm gonna be on a bus — it's my first bus tour as well."

Aoki's bus will be hauling a retail store loaded with merchandise designed by Tokidoki specially made for Dim Mak Records, including T-shirts, flash drives, iPhone cases and more. The Dim Mak tour bus includes a production studio that will mirror Aoki's normal setup, and the producer hopes it will help him find more time in the studio while on the road.

"Being on the road, when you're flying and your downtime is in hotel rooms and transports to the airport or back to the shows and stuff like that, you have zero time to produce, zero time to make any music," he said. "And on the bus, I'm outfitting it with my own studio. I'm rigging my monitors. So it's gonna be a productive month for me."

This week, Aoki released "No Beef", his latest collaboration with good buddy and Identity tourmate Afrojack, featuring Miss Palmer. Aoki and Afrojack have a few new songs in the can — and there's a chance they might try them out during the Identity Festival.

"Nick [van de Wall, a.k.a. Afrojack], I regard him as one of my best friends," Aoki said. "So when we get in the studio, we're just having fun, man. It doesn't feel like work. We're going in there, we're just being creative and doodling, and all of a sudden we come up with these tracks, and we're like, 'Holy sh--, this actually sounds really good.' So we have a couple different ideas in the vault, and we have to let them out properly."

The monthlong Identity Festival begins Thursday in Indianapolis suburb Noblesville, Indiana — an ideal setting for Aoki to debut his new show and try to reach fans who have never had the chance to see him before.

"It's given me a lot of opportunities to try new things and travel the U.S., hit these smaller cities like Indiana, Indianapolis, and bring this kind of show. It's gonna be a lot of fun, all these DJs roaming around the country."

HOLY SHIP!..

Hard Presents, Holy Ship!
We’re currently feeling damn envious reading the announcement of the awesomely named Holy Ship! festival that’s going down in the US in the new year.

Brought to American clubbers by electro dance brand Hard, the Holy Ship! festival will take a slew of big name DJs to the high seas and to the Bahamas for a weekend rave cruise. Departing from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on January 6th, 2012, the Holy Ship! cruise will take punters out onto the ocean where they can get loose with acts like A-Trak, Laidback Luke, Skrillex and Rusko before disembarking on a mother-effing private island for a beachside festival headlined by Fatboy Slim. Americans really don’t do anything by half.

Sure this news comes pretty far in advance but you could certainly do worse than join this tropical rave cruise if you’re in America if only to giggle at the sight of Skrillex in a beach attire. And the news also gives us some clues as to who we probably won’t see on any New Years tours over our summer. Cross off the below names from your Summadayze wishlist.

Hard presents, Holy Ship! 2012:

Fatboy Slim
Laidback Luke
Skrillex
Steve Aoki
Diplo
Rusko
A-Trak
Brodinski
Buraka Som Sistema
Doorly
Tommy Lee & DJ Aero
Destructo
Dillon Francis
Mike Deuce
Contra
Jaxon Bentley

LAIDBACK & AOKI TO BECOME AIRLINE PILOTS...

One should always follow their dreams, however is it right to follow them at the expense of others happiness?
Im not sure...

In a shock announcement, Dim Mak Head Honcho Steve Aoki and Windmill Wizard Laidback Luke have revealed their plans to turn their backs on the music industry, follow their childhood dreams, and become airline pilots.

Pals, Tony Flexx & Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo have aired their displeasure re. Steve and Luke's 'flight 909' dream, saying, "it'll never take off"...

...
...
...

Just kidding!

Lords of the jacking, high-voltage dancefloor, Steve Aoki and Laidback Luke have team-up with the king of crunk, Lil’ Jon, to take you on a bass-thrashing, electro-frenzied ride that’s certain to smash sound systems all over the world.
Put your hands in the air and jump up toward the sky – hitting turbulence has never been such an enjoyable rush.
