FATBOY SLIM ON DJING AFTER REHAB...

Fatboy Slim has revealed that he was "scared" that he'd be unable to DJ sober.

The dance icon, real name Norman Cook, checked himself into rehab in 2009 shortly after a disastrous and very drunk performance at Good Vibrations in 2009.

He told the Sunday Mirror that one of the biggest hurdles he's faced since then has been taking the stage without alcohol. "I was scared that DJing sober would be a nightmare," Cook said. "I was sh*tting myself that I wouldn't be able to do it or be as good. It was two or three gigs before I could dance. My hips wouldn't do it."

Fortunately, that wasn't the case. "I get a completely different buzz nowadays. In rehab they taught me about euphoric recall. When I'm in a situation where everyone is 'having it' I have memories of the past coming back to me. I get a natural high from remembering those times."

"I do get high through DJing, but without all the baggage that comes with it. Having experienced it myself I’m in tune with what the ravers are going through without actually going through it. I don’t ever feel left out."

He's not looking to wind up his decades-long career yet, either. Cook recently announced that he's planning to release a new single under a different moniker, and told The Daily Trojan "I'm just happy I'm still allowed to do it. I'm part of the wave of DJs who are taken seriously and given respect".

FATBOY SLIM TOURS THE UK'S LANDMARK CLUBBING VENUES...

Norman Cook - AKA Fatboy Slim - is set to tout the infamous essence of his acid house parties, and he’s going to be embarking on a tour of famous landmark clubs in the city – and joining him will be Jack Beats and Doorly.

Norman said of the forthcoming UK tour: "It’s been a classic year so far with raves on the Great Wall of China, beach parties in Tokyo and now festive fun in the Meccas and ballrooms of the UK".

HOLY SHIP!..

We’re currently feeling damn envious reading the announcement of the awesomely named Holy Ship! festival that’s going down in the US in the new year.

Brought to American clubbers by electro dance brand Hard, the Holy Ship! festival will take a slew of big name DJs to the high seas and to the Bahamas for a weekend rave cruise. Departing from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on January 6th, 2012, the Holy Ship! cruise will take punters out onto the ocean where they can get loose with acts like A-Trak, Laidback Luke, Skrillex and Rusko before disembarking on a mother-effing private island for a beachside festival headlined by Fatboy Slim. Americans really don’t do anything by half.

Sure this news comes pretty far in advance but you could certainly do worse than join this tropical rave cruise if you’re in America if only to giggle at the sight of Skrillex in a beach attire. And the news also gives us some clues as to who we probably won’t see on any New Years tours over our summer. Cross off the below names from your Summadayze wishlist.
