PETE TONG AND ALESSO JOIN SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA...

Pete Tong & Alesso added to One Night Stand Lineup
Pete Tong and Alesso are the latest acts to be added to the ever growing line up for the Swedish House Mafia's 'One Night Stand' show at the 65,000 capacity Milton Keynes Bowl on 14th July 2012.

These two new additions follow last week's announcement of Calvin Harris and pop/house producer Madeon who also joined the bill for the gargantuan 9 hour long event that's tipped to be the dance event of the summer.

As the UK’s best loved DJ and host of BBC Radio 1’s groundbreaking Essential Selection show Pete Tong’s legacy in electronic music history is legendary. He is the master of merging the underground with the mainstream and responsible for breaking some of the biggest tracks over the last 20 years. When Pete speaks people listen, and with millions tuning into 'something for the weekend' this makes Pete the voice of the dance music generation. Another artiste to break through over the last couple of years is Sebastian Ingrosso's protégé Alesso. At only 19 years old and with massive productions including 'Calling' and 'Raise Your Head' already under his belt, his fanbase continues to grow receiving accolades from the likes of Tiësto, Avici and Sander van Doorn. 2012 is set to be Alesso’s year.

Swedish House Mafia are giving fans the opportunity to purchase the full VIP Swedes experience. For £199 (inc. VAT & booking fee) fans will have access to an exclusive VIP compound with private catering and bar, tokens for food and drink and access to the aftershow party where DJ’s will play until 2am. Fans who have already bought a ticket will be able to upgrade for £154 (inc VAT). Info: https://www.facebook.com/swedishhousemafia?sk=app_179726115452353

PETE TONG'S STALKER ISSUE CONTINUES...

Pete Tong, Shara Nelson
Radio 1 veteran DJ Pete Tong has been granted a restraining order against Massive Attack’s best-known singer Shara Nelson, after a court heard she harassed him repeatedly with nuisance calls claiming to be both his manager and wife.

The hugely talented British singer performed on Massive Attack’s two greatest hits Unfinished Sympathy and Safe from Harm in the early 90s and was notable for being both humble, friendly, and unusually quiet and shy.

Appearing in a West London court this week, however, she appeared to be still disturbed, giving her surname to the court as 'Tong'. The Sun reported she’s been ordered to refrain from contacting the multi-millionaire radio star indefinitely and ordered to do 80 hours’ community service. (The Sun: http://bit.ly/nhsLiT)

A witness outside the court said: "Shara looked a shadow of her former self. You would never believe this was once a successful singer."

A spokesman for Tong (Pete) declined to comment.

PETE TONG GRANTED RESTRAINING ORDER...

Pete Tong granted restraining order
Pete Tong has had to get a restraining order against Shara Nelson after she claimed that she was his wife. The Massive Attack singer has been harrassing the Radio 1 star with nuisance phone calls and even told Pete’s colleagues that she was his manager.

Understandably, poor old Tongy has been finding the whole palava rather stressful, and eventually decided to apply for a restraining order. In court, Nelson even introduced herself as Shara Tong. West London magistrates gave her a 12 month community order and 80 hours of community service. It’s also claimed that Nelson was banned indefinitely from contacting Tong or his friends and family. Presumably, she’s still allowed to listen to him every Friday night on Radio 1.

Luckily the episode hasn’t affected Pete’s DJ schedule, he’s still rocking Pacha, Ibiza every Friday night. Though it’s unlikely he’s going to end his sets with ‘Unfinished Sympathy’...

THE TOP 20 DANCE TRACKS OF THE LAST 20 YEARS...

It’s probably fair to say that by now Pete Tong is recognised as the voice of the global dance scene, hosting the aptly named Essential Mix and his own show on BBC Radio 1 in the UK.

Having been in the driver’s seat of the dance community for 20 years now, the BBC are rolling out the celebrations to honour Tong’s two decades of service, beginning with a listener-voted poll of the top 20 dance songs from 1991 to now.

As you’d expect from such a poll, the top 20 tracks of the last two decades are an interesting bunch, with veterans of the scene like The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers and Massive Attack all ranking highly, while DJ icons like Laurent Garnier, Josh Wink, Sasha and Eric Prydz received deserved nods.

Interestingly enough, it’s only Underworld and Daft Punk that rank with multiple entries in the top 20, with the latter scoring three places and an extra point for Stardust. While it’s a sign of the times that Skream’s (very good) remix of La Roux’s In For The Kill makes the list, no amount of dubstep fandom could keep Energy 52’s Cafe del Mar from top spot. Thus is the power/commitment of trance fans.

A Celebration of Pete Tong: Top 20 Tracks – 1991-2011:

1.Energy 52 – Cafe del Mar
2.Underworld – Born Slippy
3.Sasha – Xpander
4.Daft Punk – One More Time
5.Stardust – Music Sounds Better
6.Robin S – Show Me Love
7.Daft Punk – Around the World
8.Prodigy – Smack My Bitch Up
9.Massive Attack – Unfinished Sympathy
10.Eric Prydz- PjanooFind
11.Groove Armada – Superstylin'
12.Laurent Garnier – Man with the Red Face
13.Chemical Brothers – Hey Boy Hey Girl
14.Gat Décor – Passion

17.Armand Van Helden – You Don't Know Me
18.La Roux – In for the Kill (Skream remix)
19.Underworld – Rez / Cowgirl
20.Diss Reaction – Jieehaaa

PETE TONG'S IBIZAN PURE PACHA RESIDENCY CONFIRMED...

The rumours are true. Pete Tong is indeed moving his Friday night Ibiza residency back to the island’s oldest club, Pacha in Ibiza Town.

Pure Pacha All Gone Pete Tong will run from Friday 27th May – 30th September on a weekly basis, with the Radio 1 stalwart returning to his former home after several year at San Antonio’s Eden.

“I'm very excited and proud to be returning to host Pacha on Friday nights this summer” he says”. In so many ways the club feels like my 'spiritual' home. ‘Pacha all gone Pete Tong’ will be a brand new night with an adventurous music policy and a very fresh look. I had a fantastic 3 years with Wonderland but it's the right time to move on to the next chapter of my Ibiza love affair.... hold tight!”

“Pete is Pacha, Pacha is Pete.” says Pacha director Danny Whittle. “It all just makes sense - quality, style and so many other things. For me, he should never have left. Now he’s back and it’s not just about the return of Pete, it’s about Pete and Pacha making history – again. So, let the games commence, I’m just really happy to be part of it”.
