DIRTY SMART, TOP OF THE WORLD…

Despite my own personal beliefs, I am not arrogant enough to state (out loud) that Dirty Smart is the greatest brand the world has ever seen. HOWEVER; I challenge any label, anywhere, to have a picture in their marketing arsenal as great as this one...

Dirty Smart receives numerous pictures every day from fans getting up to all sorts of debauchery whist rocking DS. A lot of them make me chuckle, but this one made me think...

"NO. F*CKIN'. WAY."

This photograph was taken at the top of the mountain Kilimajaro. Rising 19,340 feet above sea level, Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain in Africa and the world’s highest free-standing mountain.

'PJay Heffi', you have earned a place in Dirty Smart history. I am completely speechless.

DEADMAU5 ADDS TO L.E.D LINE-UP…

L.E.D Presents deadmau5 Live was already set to be one of this summer's biggest events, with deadmau5 returning from the USA for his first ever outdoor act (and only UK act this year!), but now the line-up is looking even juicier. Joining him will be globe-trotting producer extraordinaire Mark Ronson, and Calvin Harris who, after collaborations with Dizzee Rascal and countless hits seems to up the energy to entirely new levels. And if that’s not enough to fulfil your needs, Radio 1’s very own Zane Lowe will be flexing his selection skills and rising-duo Nero, will be cranking up the pace with some dubstep devastation.

But that’s not all; the man of the moment, Skrillex, will be cooking up a treat at this year’s festival with some music that he describes as being electro, dubstep and glitch all in one big melting pot. DJ Hype and MC:IC3, DJ Fresh, Modestep and Hospital's Netsky will be repping the D&B corner, alongside original ninja Jaguar Skills. And, there's still more acts to be announced...

L.E.D festival takes place at Victoria Park in London on Saturday 11th June For more info info and updates go to www.ledfestival.net/deadmau5 or www.deadmau5.com.

DEADMAU5 TO APPEAR ON 'THE SIMPSONS'...

It’s a sign of the times as to how big dance music has become in the US that Deadmau5 is apparently set to cameo in an upcoming episode of The Simpsons.

“Spent the morning at a reading with the simpsons… So rad! [sic]” he Tweeted this week.

He'll join the likes of U2 and Aerosmith as a musical guest on the long-running show, and follows in the footsteps of Kanye West as a more modern musical star appearing in animated form (The Cleveland Show). It also follows on from his cameo appearance as the DJ at a fashion show in the hit series Gossip Girl.

Pretty random. If they aren’t writing him into an episode of Itchy & Scratchy, they’re crazy.

FELIX DA HOUSECAT ALBUM GIVE AWAY…

Dance music legend Felix da Housecat is giving away his brand new, full artist album ‘Son Of Analogue’ for free on the cover of the April issue of Mixmag. The dance music magazine normally comes with a cover CD mixed by a world class DJ, but this is the first time the free CD has been a full artist album. The album won’t be available anywhere else, only with Mixmag.

As one of the most influential producers in dance music, Felix da Housecat helped spread acid house in the late 80s and 90s and kickstarted electroclash with his seminal 2001 album ‘Kittenz And Thee Glitz’. When asked why he decided to give away his epic new album, the Chicago born star said:

“I could have easily given the album to a record label but I’m tired of that. I wanted to make it visual. Back in the day when you’d buy a record, you’d get to open it up, be a part of it, really enjoy it, feel it. I told my manager that I don’t want this online. I didn’t want my album to be just a link.”

Mixmag has been at the forefront of music journalism for over 20 years and championed Felix’s unique sound right from the start. According to the DJ, “the cover CD is a way of saying thank you for all the support Mixmag and the UK gave me when I was fighting to be heard. It’s going back to my roots, going to touch your earhole and penetrate your third eye. It’s crazy.”

Felix da Housecat’s new album ‘Son Of Analogue’ will be on the cover of the April issue of Mixmag, out March 17.

One should always follow their dreams, however is it right to follow them at the expense of others happiness?
Im not sure...
