SNOOP DOGG, 'THROW YOUR DUBS UP'...

In case you hadn’t noticed, Snoop Dogg’s caught the dance bug...

He’s done a god awful pop-house track with David Guetta (dubbed by Carl Cox as "one of the worst records ever made"), DJed at the Electric Zoo Festival in New York as DJ Snoopadelic, hooked up with Boys Noize and now turned his enterprising eye to dubstep.

Snoopy Dee Oh double Gee has just delivered a free mixtape alongside UK bass figurehead Mistajam and Stateside identity DJ Battlecat, and it’s all about the bottom-end. Yes, this is really happening, so read on.

Entitled 'Throw Your Dubs Up', the 17-track mixtape draws on scene heavyweights like 12th Planet, Flux Pavilion and Chase & Status alongside Snoop cohorts Bow Wow, R. Kelly, Busta Rhymes and Kurupt. It’s all laced with Snoop’s trademark drawl, of course.

BOYS NOIZE WORKING WITH SNOOP DOGG...

Boys Noize knows how to keep himself occupied. In between all his label duties and non-stop touring, he’s found time to help out a couple of acts First up was the Scissor Sisters, with frontman Jake Shears gushing that Alex Ridha has been something of a “hard techno” mentor. Next up on Ridha’s radar: none other than hip hop heavy Snoop Dogg.

If you’re not following Snoop’s Twitter, you might’ve missed the surprising announcement: “its official.. workn with @boysnoize on some game changing ishh. U HEAR ME!!” Apart from that, there isn’t much to go on, but we do know that Boys Noize is capable of magic – perhaps more magic than Ian Carey or David Guetta could summon in their Snoop collabs, anyway...

CARL COX SLAMS DAVID GUETTA...

It’s high summer, which means dance music veteran Carl Cox is a busy man. As well as regular dispatches to festival fields around Europe, the DJ can be found every Tuesday at Space Ibiza, where his Revolution night is celebrating a ten year run on the island. Needless to say, times are good for Carl Cox.

With a new album 'All Roads Lead To The Dancefloor' imminent, Cox recently spoke to The Mirror about sticking to his guns and avoiding the advances of pop and hip hop stars keen for his talents in the producer’s chair.

“I’ve turned them all down, I just don’t believe in it,” he told the paper. “Years ago, hip hop meant something. It was a stand against society. But these days it’s all about bling-bling and getting paid. If I got involved in that my credibility would go down, not up.”

He also offered a frank assessment of Sweat, the David Guetta and Snoop Dogg collab that’ll appear on Guetta’s forthcoming LP Nothing But The Beat. “For me one of the worst records ever made is by Guetta and Snoop Dogg – it’s the epitome of what’s bad about dance music collaboration,” Cox said.

“I like David Guetta as a person and he’s talented in his own right, the same with Snoop. But put them together and it gives me a headache. It’s just a cool business arrangement. Their managers have sat down together and done the maths.”
