CARL COX SLAMS DAVID GUETTA...

It’s high summer, which means dance music veteran Carl Cox is a busy man. As well as regular dispatches to festival fields around Europe, the DJ can be found every Tuesday at Space Ibiza, where his Revolution night is celebrating a ten year run on the island. Needless to say, times are good for Carl Cox.

With a new album 'All Roads Lead To The Dancefloor' imminent, Cox recently spoke to The Mirror about sticking to his guns and avoiding the advances of pop and hip hop stars keen for his talents in the producer’s chair.

“I’ve turned them all down, I just don’t believe in it,” he told the paper. “Years ago, hip hop meant something. It was a stand against society. But these days it’s all about bling-bling and getting paid. If I got involved in that my credibility would go down, not up.”

He also offered a frank assessment of Sweat, the David Guetta and Snoop Dogg collab that’ll appear on Guetta’s forthcoming LP Nothing But The Beat. “For me one of the worst records ever made is by Guetta and Snoop Dogg – it’s the epitome of what’s bad about dance music collaboration,” Cox said.

“I like David Guetta as a person and he’s talented in his own right, the same with Snoop. But put them together and it gives me a headache. It’s just a cool business arrangement. Their managers have sat down together and done the maths.”

CARL COX, ‘FAMILY GUY’…

Carl Cox releases ‘Family Guy,’ the first single taken from his forthcoming long player ‘All Roads Lead To The Dancefloor’ – his first studio album in over six years, out this summer.

‘Family Guy’ is classic Carl territory – a mammoth (10-minute) slice of icy-cool techno, already a fan favourite after Carl added an early version to his website last year. “It was inspired by certain key changes in the Family Guy show’s theme tune,” explains Carl. “Ever since I put it online, I’ve had so much feedback and so many requests for it to be released. It had to be the first single.”

‘Family Guy’ comes with two mixes from Carl, including an acid laden version with a deeper twist, as well as mixes from Layo & Bushwacka and Jon Rundell.

The album ‘All Roads Lead to the Dancefloor’ is out on August 1, presented in three phases and taking advantage of never-before-seen USB technology – offering far more than a conventional album ever could or ever has; “You pay the one price for the one product,” explains Carl. “And the USB will not only give you the album, but it’ll also be your key to everything I do in the next 12 months or so.”

Recorded over the last year in Carl’s Melbourne studio ‘All Roads Lead to the Dancefloor’ showcases a range of styles across its 20+ tracks including Vocal House, Dubstep, Drum & Bass, Latin and of course Techno. “This album is aimed purely at the dancefloor,” says Carl. “Every track should be a winner too as I’ve been road-testing and remixing them to make sure they really do work.”

CARL COX MIXER APP...

The Carl Cox Mixer app, available for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, also includes the first new track from Carl Cox in six years - “Family Guy,” straight from Carl‘s upcoming album “All Roads Lead To The Dancefloor.”

The exclusive ‘Family Guy’ download is classic Carl territory – a slice of icy-cool techno and deep house, already a fan favourite after Carl added an early version to his website last year. “It was inspired by certain key changes in the Family Guy show’s theme tune,” explains Carl. “Ever since I put it online, I’ve had so much feedback and so many requests for it to be released. The mixer app is a collaboration between Carl Cox, and Musicsoft Arts, creators of DJ Mixer, the top selling music mixing application on the iPhone and on the iPad. Launched on June 17th, the new party app is packed with hot new music hand-picked by Carl Cox and played back in an automated DJ set from Carl himself (well, his digital clone).

Users can also take over and mix the tracks themselves with two CDJ decks and an all-powerful mixing station at their fingertips. Carl’s DJ booth comes complete with two CDJ decks, music mixer, an array of mix effects and features, and direct access the IntecDigital catalogue.

The App is offered as a free download on Apple’s App Store that comes with 3 new tracks from Intec Digital, including two exclusive new tracks - “Family Guy”, the brand new single from Carl Cox’s upcoming new album, and “Twisted Machine”, an unreleased collaboration from Carl Cox and Jon Rundell. Additional tracks from Intec Digital can be purchased and downloaded directly onto the App for a complete Carl Cox interactive DJ set. Other tracks available include hot dance floor bangers from Robert Babicz, Jon Rundell, Nicole Moudaber, Yousef, and more.

More DJ features include looping, sound effects, real-time time stretching for tempo change without affecting song’s pitch, low-latency headphone monitoring, pitch change - everything DJs need to rock a party. While Carl Cox is showing Australian fans some love this winter, the real action will be found in Ibiza where Coxy will once again take over Space for his weekly residency The Revolution.
