DEADMAU5 WORKING WITH PARIS HILTON... NAAAT...

deadmau5, Paris Hilton
This week we blogged about an unlikely but real rendezvous of the incred deadmau5 & Paris Hilton.

As they do, the World’s media has taken Paris Hilton chatting to deadmau5 and interpreted it as the brilliant DJ sharing his wealth of knowledge and skills with the infamous heiress to the Hilton fortune. deadmau5 quickly replied stating,

"

HEY WORLD... im not teaching Paris Hilton how to DJ. fuck already! she showed up to a show, and shit, ill be friendly to just about anyone who isnt a fuckin asshole. and she was respectful and polite, and all around nice to chat with, so i let her be a ghost... how the fuck does it end up all "im producing her next album" or "teaching her to be a DJ" if she wants to do whatever she wants, let er! i dont give a fuck... but why am i involved all of a sudden?

"

So there you have it... Rumour quelled straight from the mau5's mouth...

MOVEMENT RETURNS TO MANCHESTER...

Movement Manchester with Hernan Cattaneo
Movement returns after its staggering debut in the summer with more bleeps, bass and breakdowns within Joshua Brooks. Bringing Kaisersdisco and a Funktion One rig down in July, Mark Santangelo announced his new party within Manchester with great success, packing the intimate venue to the rafters for an evening of funk licked house grooves.

Now the platform is there to translate a promising and eventful start into a lasting legacy within Manchester’s nightlife, and already the wheels are in progress to ensure realisation of Marks’ vision. If Kaiserdisco’s debut set in Manchester was to be a statement of intent, the next stage is an emphatic acclimation of where Movement is heading, with a bona fide international star at the helm of the party

This time the line-up is bolstered by none other than Argentinean firebrand Hernan Cattaneo, the international doyen touching down for his first set in Manchester in years. Blending mesmerising melody and gritty grooves has become Hernan’s signature, becoming the premier South American DJ and a global superstar to boot.

A legend in his hometown of Buenos Aries and the rest of the continent in the nineties, he was championed by Paul Oakenfold and his Perfecto imprint in the late nineties and quickly became a superstar beyond the south atlantic. Having released a slew of compilations for Renaissance and Perfecto, he represents the vanguard of DJing ability; super silky mixing and a glorious tenacity across genres.

Whether blending deep and melody drenched house music or strobe inducing techno, Hernan remains a pivotal figure within the global electronic music fraternity. This is the chance to witness him in the gloriously intimate confines of Joshua Brooks, backed up Funktion One sound. Dance music rarely gets so exciting.

Support on the evening comes courtesy of Movement-UK’s resident and promoter Mark Santangelo. Being able to boast a cross-continent career of his own, Mark’s visceral knowledge of house music remains the killer component of the event he is establishing in his adopted home.

MICHAEL WOODS INTERVIEW...

Michael Woods, August '11 interview
Impressive is a word that springs to mind when you consider Michael Woods’ steep rise to notoriety; from being associated to all things Ministry, including the kick start to a new series of compilations aptly entitled 'Residents'; being asked to emanate his sound through other people’s tracks; to holding residency at Cream Amnesia; and producing Example’s number 1 smash hit. His soaring popularity knows no bounds and transcends Europe’s dance culture boom right through to the USA – it’s clear that the turning of each of these chapters is a precursor in what is looking set to be an epic novel of booming success....
...
..
.

Hello! Firstly, how are you and what’s been going on in the past week?

Michael Woods (MW): I’m good thanks. I’d just come back from a crazy tour in North America and headed straight to Ibiza for a show at Cream Amnesia.

Your name is out there, people are aware of who you are, but how would you best describe your sound? Can you do it in 3 words?

MW: I love to make music that gets the dance floor rocking. I’d describe my sound as Big – uplifting – memorable

Congratulations on producing the number 1 single with Example (Changed The Way You Kiss Me) – how did you react to having a number 1? What does it mean to you?

MW: I remember being in a pizza hut in Latvia when I found out! I was pretty chilled out considering I never expected the track to do that well. It means a lot to me because now I know people are buying in to my sound and also its opened a lot of doors for me.

Because of such a rise to fame, do you ever feel pressured to produce consistently revered tracks?

MW: I know I have to deliver the goods now on every production but I don’t feel under pressure in any way – people either like my music or they don’t.

Tell us a little bit about your forthcoming single.

MW: My next single is called White Sky, I’ve been playing it out in all my recent sets and its been going down really well – originally I made it because I needed some new material that no one else had to play on my North American Tour, and due to the amazing reaction I’ve decided to release it as a single.

Have you got an artist album in the pipeline, if so, anything you can tell us about that?

MW: I will definitely release an artist album in the future but there are no immediate plans right now – at the moment I’m concentrating on making some hit singles and once they’re in the bag I can concentrate 100% on the album, which I really hope to have out by summer 2012.

Exciting stuff! How is the American tour going, how do they react to you over there?

MW: The American fans are absolutely amazing! Every single gig had the crowd going completely nuts, like I’ve never seen before. I love playing there and can’t wait to go back in September and November this year.

You’re playing all over Ibiza this summer – is there one particular night you’re looking forward to play? And what night do you like to go out and party at?

MW: So far this year I’ve played at Cream Amnesia, Space and Sankeys in Ibiza and I’ve had an incredible time. These are amongst the world’s most prestigious clubs and its an honour to play there. If I’m there to party I love to go see either Tiesto at Privilege or Luciano at Pacha.

How was Sankeys Ibiza – how does it better the Sankeys in Manchester?

MW: It was totally incredible – the club is huge and has an amazing sound system with huge sub woofers embedded under the dance floor, and also had a fascinating light show.

What else is in store for you?

MW: I’ve got lots more travelling in the near future, I’m playing at Electric Zoo Festival in New York followed by Pacha NYC this month, and also Nocturnal festival near Los Angeles. Along with the touring I’m in the studio working on more productions and also remixes for Benny Benassi and Armin....

Ministry Of Sound, 20th Birthday
This month sees world famous clubbing institution Ministry of Sound celebrate two decades at the forefront of dance music, with a full weekend of birthday celebrations from 16th - 18th September.

With a nod to the club's past, present and future, the birthday weekend will take clubbers on a journey through 20 years of dance music, at the hands of some of the most expert DJs to have ever graced its decks.

The Gallery presents... Ministry of Sound's 20th Birthday

Friday 16th September

Kicking off the TWENTY weekend at the club, The Gallery brings the past, present and future of house music to The Ministry of Sound. A main room melange of Trance heroes in the Box see Jochen Miller, Sied van Riel and Sean Tyas headlined by Mixmag's Greatest DJ of all time, Eddie Halliwell. The 103 meanwhile takes a retrospective look at the best in house, and will be led on this voyage by house music's founding father Danny Rampling. Joining Danny on his journey back through time will be X-Press 2 and Gavyn Mytchel and Steve Lee.

Advance tickets are £15.

Saturday Sessions - The 20th Birthday

Saturday 17th September

Continuing the birthday celebrations into the next night, Saturday Sessions takes over the club on 17th September for an all night blow out featuring 20 DJs until 9am. With the Box taken care of by Nic Fanciulli, Dennis Ferrer, Matthias Tanzmann and Alexis Raphael, the rest of the club will be looked after by Vikings, DJ Mag, Spacestation and Electronic Sessions, bringing a strong line up of electronic talent including Dada Life, T Williams, Cosmonauts and Will Taylor.

Tickets are £15 advance.

20 Years of House

Sunday 18th September

Rounding off a big weekend of birthday celebrations, 20 Years of House will take the club back to its roots, exploring all the sounds that made it what it is today. Celebrating real house music and all that it still stands for, '20 Years of House Music' brings together one of the most interesting line-ups of 2011. Quite possibly the last time that you will see all three house heads play together, Sunday 18th September presents CJ Mackintosh, Frankie Knuckles, David Morales all in the same room for the first time in years. Whether you call them pioneers, inventors or just damn good dj's they sculpted the scene and still are to this day. This night is all about the friends of the club, so the doors open to regulars, past clubbers and anyone with an appreciation of house as an art form. With Farley & Heller plus Claudio Coccoluto also added to the bill, it would be regrettable to miss out.

Tickets are £15 advance
