LAZY POP SAMPLING STRIKES AGAIN...
You will likely remember the shit-storm that erupted earlier in the year when Black Eyed Peas main offender Will.i.am didn’t so much as sample Boys Noize’s club hit Yeah but jacked an untouched and unauthorised version for his own dodgy tune.
The trend of lazy dance ripping is set to continue on though with the latest account finding US megastar Beyonce lifting liberally from Pon de Floor, Diplo and Switch’s big hit from their Major Lazer project.
Entitled Girls (Who Run The World), Beyonce’s new single borrows heavily from Pon de Floor, jacking pretty much the entire structure of the original production.
In defense of the single, the sampling is slightly more creative than Will.i.am’s attempt at nabbing some club cool, with flourishes of additional production sprucing up Girls. What’s more the Pon de Floor sampling is actually legit, with Diplo and Switch serving as co-producers of the track. Good for them at least!
